global warming

/ˌgloʊbəl ˌwɔrmɪŋ/
/ˈglʌʊbəl ˈwɔmɪŋ/
IPA guide

Global warming is the ongoing rise in the earth's atmospheric temperature.

One of the most serious issues in the world is global warming. It’s not just that the average temperature of the earth's atmosphere is increasing, but that it’s the fault of humans because of how our actions — especially burning fossil fuels — affect our environment. Global warming has already been a disaster for some animals, especially polar bears whose glacier homes are melting. It remains to be seen how bad global warming will get and what we will do about it.
